The Blogging Content Hustle

Blogging has become an essential component of any internet marketing strategy. A daily blogging habit is the biggest key to successful internet marketing.  For new comers in on-line marketing, the regular practice of creating relevant content for the public can be a very intimidating proposition.   The pressure of finding new and relevant content to share on your blog every day is a challenge even for the most prolific writer.  However, blog marketing remains the most cost effective way to build a regular following of readers. Following are suggestions of where to search for fresh ideas which your readers and searching public may interested in.

OPBs Other People’s Blogs – Read blogs regularly in your niche or areas of interest for you. This will help you stay topical by reading not only the blog posts but the comments that are generated, as well. This may prompt you to development a continuing thread around the same or a similar topic. Sometimes, bloggers in a similar niche may work together and re-post each others entries, with credits. This increases the content on each blog and the value to the reader with less additional effort. It is very important that if you take content in any form from another blog to give credit to the original article and writer.

Shared learning – Have you learned anything lately? If you are an avid internet marketer, it is hard not to be constantly learning through books, video training, webinars, other blogs, seminars, etc. You get the picture. Synthesizing and sharing key “a-ha” moments are great blog content. The world of information and learning is moving constantly. Do not feel that you need to be an expert to share information you have recently learned. Someone once told me if you want to become expert at something, teach it. The truth is we are all students and we are all teachers. Be both and enjoy it. You never know when something you know will be just the item someone else needs.

Creative, interactive content – Don’t be afraid to use video, graphics, art to add variety and break up the text thing. Also, interactive contests, opinion polls, drawings are good for creating a buzz and getting more participation from your readers. Asking their opinion of what they would like to read and then following through with the requested topics is a good way to target your content and please your readers at the same time.

“How to” Snippets – Short concise step by step instructions are always a good idea. Often times people forget what they know and take basic information for granted. Don’t forget to include tips and short instruction pieces for all levels of readers even if it seems a known factor. You might be surprised at who will appreciate it and become a loyal fan.

Relevant News & Concerns – Share news stories that relate to your readership. For instance, News on proposed legislation, changes that impact consumer goods or tax code might be important to home-based business owners. By keeping your readers informed of current trends, you take a leadership position in their informational resources. so you can seize the moment with important pieces of information. By following the comments and discussions on other niche blog postings and forums, you can find the key questions people are asking now. Do some quick research and provide the answers your readers are seeking.

PLR Private Label Rights – PLR’s allow you to purchase the rights to written content are a great source for blog content. However, it is expected that the blogger will re-write the content in his own words or re-post with credit to the original writer or risk offending the search and various blog platform engines which will consider a verbatim posting as plagiarism, still considered the kiss of death in written content.

Personal Experiences – Pay attention to what is happening around you. A habit of regular reflection on events, situations and their impact can sometimes yield profound insight into your blogging. Dealing with an unhappy customer or a child’s tantrum can yield a new point of view or understanding that could be relevant to your readers. Be able to candidly share your own experiences and personal challenges makes you more human and accessible to people.

Finding new ways to add relevant content and enhancing your reader’s experience with your blog is the challenge – isn’t that what you are looking for when you visit someone’s blog?

Hi, I'm Teresa Farrell, an online marketing coach and network marketing leader who has been involved in entrepreneurial pursuits since 1997. Prior to that I provided management consulting services to Fortune 200 companies in the telco, tech, bio-tech and mass retail sectors. I loved the work because it was solutions oriented and required constant learning and skills upgrade. You couldn't sit still for a moment. After 20 years, the constant travel became too much and I longed for a simpler life. I found it in the Pacific Northwest. Its a great place to live but most of the paying jobs are a 1 -2 hour commute away so part of the plan was to create my own income. I evaluated several business models and ruled out anything with a storefront or employees immediately. I wanted to freedom of cash flow and did not want to have more obligations than absolutely necessary. Next, I evaluated franchises, B-to-B services, product distributorships or brokerages. I ruled out most of them because again they required large capital investments in merchandise and facility and I wanted to limit my exposure as a start up. I had seen the percentages of inventory write-offs and did not want to create a volume business to offset the write-offs. I found a couple of consulting franchises that made sense. 1. I was a seasoned consultant and felt comfortable in that arena, 2. I felt if they had the products or services of value, I could promote, sell and implement them, and 3. I really liked the idea of being part of a larger brand and support community. So after several years of free-lancing, I purchased a franchise as a web service consultancy for small and medium sized companies. Big mistake. I wound up paying royalties to someone for a job and getting very little in return. Anyway, I learned a great deal from the 2 years I stayed with that business and I gained confidence and clarity about what I really wanted to do with my life, now that it was totally my decision. I loved the internet. I loved problem solving. I loved consulting and coaching others. As I grew in my on-line abilities, I was introduced to network marketing and developed a supporting income from both activities. Over the past several years I have been amazed and excited to see my two vocations of choice merge and actually emerge as a powerful new economic model. You can become wealthy with little at risk compared to the past models of entrepreneurship. More importantly, ordinary people can create a debt free financial stability for themselves and others in this industry by learning the new skills and applying them thoughtfully with integrity. The outcomes are directly correlated with the level of effort. I love that! It is never too late to get started and now is the best time to start because it is very new - the integration of internet marketing, attraction marketing and network marketing. With the right focus and mentoring, a person can completely change their financial picture in a short period of time. In addition to my marketing work, I provide fund raising assistance to several non profit organizations and consulting services to small businesses. I relocated from New York City to the rural Olympic Peninsula and enjoy connecting with family, friends and business associates around the world clicking from my keyboard.
