Orignal post found Speed Blogging

Have you ever wanted to make an income online and heard of people make good money blogging?

Do you want to know how they do it? If you are going to be online, you need a “hub” site which is a blog or a website. That is your “home base” where you can be found on the internet, to sell your products, services or information. It is the cheapest and most productive advertisement on the planet these days.Blogging is an inexpensive way to get your business out on the internet, 24/7. It’s like a piece of real estate forever out there!

So What Is Speed Blogging?

Creating a blog post can go quickly, however…30 minutes max, with speed blogging. So, how do you blog fast about your business, expertise, charity, hobby, or passion?

Speed Blogging is sitting down at your computer and within 30 minutes you have turned out a value based, interesting, or entertaining blog post worth reading….throw in a photo or video, and finally a call to action to direct people to your business. Then call it a day.

Do you think you can do that? Here’s some tips to help you piece together your 30 minute and
DONE, PUBLISHED blog post.

The speed blogging challenge

1) Write one-two posts a day for the next 7 days

2) You have 30 minutes per blog at maximum… The goal here is to push yourself, and conquer
so you can go about your day.

Tips For Speed Blogging

#1 Forget perfection.

#2 Know what you want to talk about and start writing from your heart.

#3 As you write, write fast subtitles for your paragraphs.

#4 Get your mindset focused before you start. FOCUS with a timer to knock this out. …

#5 Have a pre-written call to action that you can copy and paste at the bottom of your
blog posts.

#6 Using images and videos say it better for some people. They break up the text and
make it more interesting for the readers.

#7 Keep your blog posts short and sweet. If you find your content is getting long and
you still have stuff to say, continue it on Part 2 and finish up

#8 Write about trending topics. This removes the creative burden from you and allows you
to fly through a blog post.

Most bloggers struggle to make money, because of 2 reasons. Listen up…

Traffic – With over 634,000,000 websites
in the world, competition is fierce

Conversion – Products that “sell” well and have
a decent commission

With my blogging network, Empower Network we are ranked 406 of all websites in the world.
That puts your blogging content above big commercial sites like Mashables and C-Net before you even start. All you need to do is learn the format for blogging and take our training to learn how to get Google’s attention.

Our products are the highest converting products in the industry. Actually, 3-10 times more than average and they pay 100% so you will make real income instead of tiny, wimpy affiliate wages.

One of the products inside the Empower Network is a ‘how to’ training course that took 3 months to put together hosted by top industry leaders on what’s working to generate leads, traffic and sales. This is the $15K Formula .

Seriously, take a look at http://story.empower-rama.com . Empower Network is an internet marketing training and personal development company who happens to offer a “done for you blog” as their first core product. (You can see mine here).

So watch the video and learn how you can get started.

Next, complete the join page to get started.

It is only $25 for the first month. If you decide it isn’t for you after a month, you can stop it, yourself…but you won’t. By then you should be earning money and that is harder to stop! Your blog site will be instantly created and set up for you.

No idea what to blog about? Just Google trends or check out yahoo trends. Once you are in the community, you will have dozens of ideas. When you have your blog setup, give me a call at 360 769-0326 and I will personally walk you through everything so you get off to a fast start!

Orignal post found Options for Home-based Business

So you are curious or you have actually made a decision that a home-based income makes a lot of sense to you. There are hundreds of products, companies that come and go, gurus and not gurus creating a crazy noise on-line. The bottom line is this. There are only three ways to create home-based income. Here they are:

Choice 1: Join an On-line Network Marketing Company

Many people have tried network marketing and generally it depends upon having a large team because you will generally average $1 per person on the team a month. So if you have 25 people on your team, you will make $25. Most network marketing companies require a minimum monthly purchase from those earning commissions which is generally around $100 or more. So you need at least 100 people in your organization to break even! Large teams of people are very time consuming so this is usually out for busy people. Very little leverage of your time.

Choice 2: Selling Products and Services Directly On-line

There are many ways to make additional income on eBay, exchange sites, the Amazon affiliate program, Craig’s List, etc. but they are direct sales, competitive and most of the activity is really “off line” in product acquisition, preparation, shipping, etc. People who make decent, regular checks on eBay actually rent warehouse space, hire people to manage inventory, take pictures, post ads and handle orders. So if you want leverage, making more income on less activity, I would not advise doing any of these models as a home-based business.

Choice 3: Affiliate Marketing

For those who don’t know. Affiliate Marketing is when you market and sell someone else’s products or services and they pay you for it. They generally provide marketing materials and even capture pages and sales funnels. If you don’t know what I mean by capture page or internet marketing funnel, then being an affiliate is the best route for you. If you have a unique product and want to move it to market quickly, creating an affiliate program is the best way to introduce it to the public.

If you want to know how to make extra money in affiliate marketing, keep reading! Affiliate Marketing has several benefits including:

No home parties

No need for inventory

No product development, support and marketing set-up

No need for chasing friends and family

Affiliate Marketing is an outgrowth of Attraction Marketing and instead of pushing products onto friends and family, you attract people who are searching for the solution or product you are selling. Once the match is made, the sale just follows and money appears in your account as if by magic.

The three critical factors in Affiliate Marketing are:

You must have used and believe in the product so you are marketing with an authentic voice.

Get the best percent commission possible. I never represent anything below 50% and for my main income stream, nothing below 75%. I have one that is actually 100%! That is real leverage because it takes a lot fewer sales at 75% commission than say, 30%, which is more common.

Keep track of your expenses and your outcomes so you can measure what works and what doesn’t work and keep improving your processes.

If some of this is foreign to you now, don’t sweat it. I started where you are about 18 months ago and now earn a steady full-time income on-line. I strongly advise you find a good mentor in the beginning to keep you focused and moving toward your goals. It is easy to be distracted with quick claims and programs. A mentor will help save money and get results.

For those of you who know, its beautiful to spend your time on your priorities of your life, rather than the priorities of a paycheck or a job? Think about it…Wouldn’t it wonderful to know that you can earn extra money without walking away from yourself or your family, and be able to spend adequate time with them?

Most of my income is generated by one affiliate program and I want to share it with you. It isn’t MLM but it does have residual income and real leverage built in. Whether you want to make a $200 / month or 6 figures/ month, this program will work for you. So, if you are curious about how I am able to do this same thing, and earn money while doing the things that are dear to my heart, then go HERE now to learn more about how to make extra money right from the comfort of your own home!

Orignal post found Make Extra Money Now

Do you want to learn how to make extra money to help cover those unexpected bills you have? Do you need to work from home, as I do? Caring for an aging parent, small children or even home schooling or paying large tuition your kids requires commitment and unfortunately, confinement but that doesn’t need to hurt the budget! Wouldn’t it be great to find a way to earn that extra money from your home with flexible working hours that allow you to manage your personal home life, too? And don’t worry, you won’t have to phone solicit, manage any inventories, or have people come to the house, unless you invite them.

Well, I found a way and I am proof that it is possible in a short amount of time, too. You don’t need to be a computer genius but you do need a computer and internet access. I assume if you are reading this post that you have both…so what is it? Whatever your reason for researching how you can earn extra income, you should know that it is possible, whether you are a mom, dad, college student, on disability looking for additional income, or even someone that is retired. The movement for those working from home is growing, and it’s expected to continue to grow as well.

My goal is to share with you how to make extra money without depending upon the more traditional job models that are dwindling to part time, minimal wages. They suck your time, energy and budget. Working from home gives you more time in your life and freedom with your daily decisions. This would be a great time for you to grab a pad, a pen, and your coffee, so that you can take notes on what I am about to share with you!

Learn How to Make Extra Money from Home Right Now!

Now that you know it’s possible to make extra money from home, you are probably wondering what you need, right? You won’t need anything more than what you probably already own. Chances are that you are reading this right now from your own computer at home, and you may even be unemployed. Relax, grab a beverage and let’s get started.

First of all the best options are all on-line:

Promoting products and services for retailers and organizations

Sharing skills and experiences through video or webinars for fees

Joining a network marketing opportunity online

I am sure you have already found that simple searches for work from home or home-based business will provide an overwhelming response. In fact, you can get lost in the search and that can be confusing and depressing. So let me give you a few tips.

First of all, there are hundreds of millions of people who are on-line and the number of people who shop on-line is growing each day. So the opportunities are growing, too. Except for personal grooming or home care type services, almost everything can be marketed, traded and delivered through the internet. The tools are getting easier so if you can check your email, you have a good start. We can work on the rest together!

Here are the critical things to look for when researching an on-line opportunity:

How do you make money and what is the commission payout? Are there any other conditions before payment? Like hold backs, minimum payments, or service charges, etc.

How much money do you make per transaction? This directly relates to how many transactions and how much time it takes?

How does the marketing work? Who is responsible for leads and traffic?

Who owns the customer information? Is there an auto-responder system in place or will it need one? And which one?

Evaluate carefully and pick the option that fits your interests and lifestyle…not because of a friend’s interests. Do your own research. Find a mentor and get started now. Learn more about your options here and if you would like to work with me, leave an audio message or join my email.

If you enjoyed this article, share the love and add your thoughts by leaving a comment. I welcome the exchange. Connect with me on Facebook or Twitter.

Do something today to change your life and improve the lives of others!

Yours in Prosperity,

Orignal post found Focus on the Positive — It Works!

What you focus your attention on is what you create in your life. This is time honored advice always included in personal development materials. So if you focus on being broke or when you will have enough money in the future (which also means “I don’t have enough money now”), you will stay broke. This was always a hard one for me when I was broke. How do you re-focus your thoughts when you have unpaid bills stacking up or more bills than income?

I tried different exercises to envision my franchise taking off, with my carefree lifestyle that I once had enjoyed, etc. but it only made me more acutely aware of my current financial circumstances. I used subliminal tapes for prosperity dreaming and coaching tapes for improving my business activities. It helped but at the end of my long exhausting days I was still left stressing over my bills.

Then I went to my annual retreat with my spiritual teacher, Ram Dass. I had been meditating for 20 years so I had experienced the benefits of silence and tuning in regularly. I just couldn’t shake this fear and depression . I had a major shift from 2 things I heard. I had heard and read them before but they were delivered as answers to specific questions.

The questions were specific like ” My child was died and we can’t seem to recover our lives.” or “We’ve lost our home due to a medical crisis and we may lose our marriage, too” or “I was a victim of extreme bullying in grade school and it still hurts me.” The immediate human response is to offer sympathy and some kind of practical remedy, right? My expectation was for answers with a spiritual twist in this setting. The answers were simple and similar in all the cases. People kept throwing up examples of their pain that kept them from bliss and happiness and the answers were the same.

2 Simple Answers

1. You don’t have to do anything. Your “being” is enough. This is another way of saying “you are good enough”. So stop all the “what if” or “if only” games in your head because they are no more real than unicorns and trolls. This is a hard one because it involves self love and value. Most of us are too busy trying to create value with everyone and everything else that we forget to start with ourselves first. The first step is being mindful and over the coming months, I would remind myself when I would start to stress about not having enough time, not doing enough, not having enough…that all that was truly required of me was to “be”. It would turn the pressure off and allow me to focus and move through the my activities. As I practiced this break in the spiraling negative thoughts, it got easier and the periods of negative overwhelm became less frequent. I was coping and things got better.

2. Focus on the positives in every situation; there always are positives even if you have to dig a little. In the case of the grieving parents…focus on the great things about having her in your life, not the ending of it. For the homeless couple, focus on the love you have for each other and the fact that you have each other and have good health, friends, jobs, etc. In other words be grateful for what you have. Change your focus. Oprah and others have preached gratitude journals for a long time. It helps to refocus the mind and stop the negative feelings.

I had heard similar advice but it was usually accompanied with complex explanations and processes. This was easy and my depression and my mind fog lifted quickly. I had more energy and was actually happy again. Within 6 months my bills were caught up and my monthly finances had turned from bleeding red to “in the black”.

Now here is the scientific reason for what happened to me. Don’t you love it when the wisdom of the ancients is backed up by science. Watch the video to understand how these simple steps can change your brain.

To be clear, what changed for me was this: When I let go of the negative feelings; i.e. feeling trapped, being a victim of franchise fraud, feeling the lost of my investment and hating the work; I was able to move forward. I was able to do the work I could and turn the rest away. I was approached about another business opportunity and had the “space” to listen, evaluate and join it. Within a month I was cash positive because I loved what I was doing and I connected to people in a way I hadn’t with the franchise.

A Simple Process

It was a process, a simple process. I didn’t need a coach. I didn’t need a counselor. I didn’t need a shoulder to cry on. I didn’t need pills. I didn’t need a class or a book or a tape series. It was simple mindfulness. When I started to get that little pain in my stomach or headache or sense of anger rising, I stopped, took deep breaths and wrote a list of everything good in my life…when I couldn’t think of anything…I remembered good times…like the first time I held my niece or nephew or my wedding or a surprise birthday party. I remembered and wrote them down until the feelings subsided. It took hours at first and then quickly reduced to a matter of seconds.

These simple techniques have dramatically improved my life. We are bombarded by negative news every minute. I can actually hear it and see the positive of every story…while still respecting the pain and the suffering. It is a balanced way of viewing things…not a “pollyanna” thing at all.

Life is a process. If you are feel stuck, try the 2 steps and open up to new opportunities.

Orignal post found Tax Advantages for Home Businesses

As the deadline for 2012 taxes looms around us, it is time for all small business owners and entrepreneurs to collect all the expenses we are entitled to deduct. One of the benefits of having a small business is the tax advantages so don’t shrink now.

Pull out your receipts, credit card bills, maintenance records, paypal records, and don’t be timid or shy when considering your expenses. Too many business owners, CPAs and Tax Preparers are overly conservative and miss out on important expenses that are legal deductions….but before we get started…a little ditty from George Harrison to put us in the mood. Rock out!

Here are the major tax deductions that apply to a small home businesses that can have a major impact on your tax return.

Travel related expenses

A most underutilized tax deductions by small business owners today are travel related expenses which are 100% deductible. These include airfare, hotel, rental cars, valet, taxi, trains, tolls, etc. Consider all of your travels last year that may have involved a meeting with partners, a vendor, or a training meeting, a tour of a facility or store, an annual meeting, a conference with retreat with a partner, the list goes on and on.

Auto Deductions

Remember this isn’t travel, but expenses for your car or truck used in your business. 90% of small business owners actually utilize the mileage method. For 2012 this was 55.5cents per mile. Do your best to keep a written record, but if you haven’t been extremely detailed, still utilize an estimate and take the deduction. I keep one car for business only use and keep a monthly mileage log.

Dining and Entertainment

You are entitled to consider all of your meals last year where you discussed business with a partner, or a potential client, vendor or strategic alliance. If you didn’t keep a receipt, still take the expense. Technically, you don’t need a receipt if it was less than $75, but you still should be able to substantiate it if necessary with a credit card or bank statement and the purpose of the meeting. Another overlooked fact is that you can write-off dining by yourself when you are traveling. All dining and entertainment is limited to 50% of the full amount.

Office Supplies and Technology

As a small business owner, we are regularly buying supplies and upgrading our phones, computers and other digital devices. Don’t forget that when you have a small business, the majority of these items can be fully discharged. Be sure to pro-rate the expenses for items which are used for other than business. The Section 179 deduction allows you to fully deduct the cost (up to $500,000) of assets purchased in 2012, including computers, furniture, certain business software, vehicles and manufacturing equipment.

Technology and Telephone

This is obviously an ever increasing expense as small business owners utilize technology to do business nationwide, if not worldwide. Many also don’t know that recent case law and IRS rulings allow business owners to write-off 100% of their cell phone expenses, so long as they have at least one dedicated home phone line.

Home Office Deduction

Operate a business out of your home? You may be eligible to claim the home-office deduction. The hitch here is you can only claim it if an area of the home is used exclusively and regularly for business.

Start-Up Costs

Start a business in 2012? Did you know that you can claim up to $5,000 of start-up and $5,000 of organizational costs incurred before you opened your doors.

Professional Fees, Training

Any fees associated with training, professional memberships, lawyers, tax professionals or consultants related to costs of doing business are deductible.

Charitable Donations

Charitable donations can qualify as tax deductions against your business’ annual tax liability. The contributions may be tax deductible as long as they are not set aside for use by a specific person.

Now with all of these expenses, you need to take into account your overall income, profit and the size of your operations. Your deductions need to look realistic and common for the type of business you have. However, if they’re legitimate and you have support, don’t be afraid to take them. Keep your records as back up to justify your expenses.

Orignal post found Simplified Steps to Financial Independence

I was watching a documentary on LinkTV about the 2008 financial crisis and it said that 71% of the sub-prime mortgages that were created and rolled into those toxic assets were actually re-finance loans. WOW!

That means they were purchased by people against the equity of an existing mortgage. Generally, reasons for a re-finance are to get a lower interest rate, to cash out some of the equity for consumption or consolidate and pay off debt. So the largest portion was not people who were not loan worthy really because most them had a 1st mortgage that was mature enough to have adequate equity to entice them to re-finance.

Interesting. So banks created the market frenzy for housing which drove up the house values, driving up equity available to the buyer, and then made it ridiculously easy to qualify for additional debt by eliminating many of the requirements. They were getting paid by transaction anyway.

I think what frosts most of us is the way they got away with it and the public bailed them out to pay large bonuses to the culprits involved. Anyway…here is my question. Listen up.

Do you think anything has changed?

So join the movement of people who are setting themselves apart from the institutions trusted in the past. We are living a different truth today and for many of us, it is nearly unbelievable.

So what do you do? Here’s a short list of steps to be free and clear from direct future harm of these toxic financial institutions. Remember, they are “too big” to fail so if they do there could be significant damage to all of us. By lessening your dependency upon them today, you lessen the impact of that damage.

1. Do not have anything in the stock or bond market that you can’t afford to lose. Forget about the projections. No knows for sure and there are so many impacting variables and inter-dependencies that it is not possible to predict outcomes. With interest rates so low, brokers and bankers are more dependent on transaction and service fees for income. Lots of promises in marketing. Stay clear of the promises. Stay as liquid as you can afford to be. Don’t invest anything you can’t stand to lose.

2. Eliminate your debt. The cost of debt is killing most household budgets today. Debt includes mortgage debt, too. Get out of debt. The old story that debt is a good leverage for investment or as a tax deduction is not true. If you are making .5% interest per annum on your 401k and your mortgage is 3.5% or higher than you might want to reshuffle your assets. If you have enough in your savings to pay off your mortgage, do it. You will save yourself cashflow stress as well as a great deal of money in loan interest over time. Don’t give the bankers any more income. They don’t need it. The same goes for credit card debt, etc.

3. Develop additional ways of creating income. Be creative and take your time. Choosing wisely, over time a home-based income stream can grow into a leveraged, residual income stream. The time it takes is up to you and depends upon your skills and knowledge, how much education and mentoring you receive and, of course, the value offered by the business. I would rather have a residual income than a large deposit that sits somewhere and tempts the financial industry to develop more ways to make money on it.

4. Enjoy your life. Don’t be too frugal or too much of a spendthrift. Money is an expression of energy so keep it circulating and doing good things. If you catch yourself saying “when I make $______ or have $_________ then I will donate $________ or give $_________. Do it now and grow it. Whether it is for yourself, your family, community or others, use your assets for good.

5. Always be a responsible citizen. Have enough resources to sustain yourself over at least 6 months. It may take some time to create this but do it. It will give you great independence. If you have dependents, think about insurance and cover your risk.

6. Take care of your health because that is truly the greatest wealth you can have.

As a former consultant in the financial industry (banking, insurance, and asset management) this advice may not sound too polished. The financial industry spends a great deal of time polishing their message and broadcasting it through all the halls of learning. Many of the premises such as “foolish to pay off a mortgage early” or “401ks will be adequate preparation for retirement” are just marketing messages. Take them with a grain of salt and put your own plans in place. Don’t be bullied by these financial geniuses. Its your life.

Disclaimer: This is not to be construed as professional advice. I carry no industry certifications or licenses. I am only sharing actions that have worked for me becoming financially free and independent of financial institutions that governed my life so totally, in the past.

Truth: Paycheck to paycheck living is a mentality –it is about how you think about money rather than how much you earn.

3 more beliefs keeping you in the paycheck to paycheck mode:

Belief #3: I’ll give or donate later once I start making “real” money. This belief is one of lacking or wanting and is damaging because it devalues the income you are currently earning. It creates “lack of abundance and appreciation of today” and makes the perfect case to procrastinate forward motion activities. When we are truly appreciative of the richness surrounding us, whether it be money, objects, friends, wisdom, ideas, time with loved ones, roof and bed, hot water on tap, cup of coffee or a piece of chocolate…we will attract more good things to us. This takes a lot of faith and practice but it works. I am not sure why but I want to be clear. To give or donate to needy causes reinforces to our belief system that we have enough and by that very notion, more seems to follow. When we are anxious about every bill and expenditure and even hoard money because it may not last…we reinforce the beliefs that we won’t have enough. The idea of “real money” being something to acquire in the future keeps you on a treadmill, constantly trying to make more. So take care of your needs for the future but give generously, too.

Belief #4: Being good at finances is complicated and scary. After the last decade of fiancial upheaval and distrust of an entire industry…this is a tough one for me. When I was still a consultant in the early 1990′s I worked with clients on Wall Street and I became disillusioned then with a shared point of view that was very greedy; lifestyles that were really bankrupt except for the large sums of money. Huh? Do you get it? It actually did cause me to reevaluate my career and make a large change into technology integration projects. Surrounded by most of the money in the free world, these capitalists were constantly obsessing about the “lack of money”. It was insane, really. All transactions were valued by immediate ROI. No long term thinking. All financial products were created to make them money now. The regulators and risk managers were pesky obstacles to avoid whenever possible. So it is hard for me to trust the industry for investment advice. I think money should circulate and you shouldn’t invest in anything you don’t understand. You can’t save enough for complete security so come to terms with that. Do the best you can and be apart of the community. Did I say have faith?

Belief #5: People with money are ________________. More than ever before, there are several levels of “people with money”. A lot has been written about the 1% of the population which is considered wealthy in the USA. I have no problem or issue with most of the 1%. It has taken some work because of my rather purist upbringing but I am ok with wealth. However, there is a sub-group called the uber rich, the .1 of the 1%. This group I do wonder about. Here’s a statistic 1/10 of the 1% (approximately 400 families) own an asset base equal to the bottom 150 million Americans (nearly half the population) . I harbor a little judgment about this group. It raises 2 questions: How much is enough? How do you accumulate that much wealth without manipulating the system and therefore, cheating others. Bad karma. This is especially telling, when coupled with the fact that this segment of the population has actually tripled their assets in the last 30 years while real earnings for labor have remained stagnant. So I use the uber rich as an example of extreme hoarding with a few exceptions like Bill and Melissa Gates and Warren Buffet who live adequately and keep their money circulating and doing good things. It isn’t about the amount of money you have, it is what you do with it.

I have worked on my relationship with money since exiting my “flower child” days and the end game for me is to leave this earth the same way I came in…with no assets. I feel money is only an expression of energy, good or bad dependent upon the intention. It should flow as all energy does. To hang onto it or hoard it due to fear of the future stunts its growth.

So…it seems a conundrum…why is paycheck to paycheck mentality different from trust in the flow of money? What’s the intention? Its a mentality and it is tied to self-actualization, self-determination and an intention of faith over fear. The cost of living paycheck to paycheck goes way beyond the lack of dollars in your bank account at the end of the month. The up and down of waiting for the next check adds stress, anxiety, and frustration that doesn’t have to be there. And chances are you are tense and easily irritated around pay day and when bills are due. As much as you try not to think about it, what you owe and what you will be able to pay is at the back of your mind gnawing away at your peace and self esteem.

Reality: Changing your mindset on money will change the flow, volume, and impact of your income.

However, mindset must be followed with action. You can’t will your way to financial security or independence. You must invest in yourself. The skills and knowledge that will always be trade able for ready “greenbacks”. Money is only one expression of wealth. Your health, your abilities, your family, your free time, etc. are all have their value and contribute to your “financial” status. Not just the zeros in your bank account.

Orignal post found Are Beliefs Limiting your Income? (Pt1)

Based upon 2012 data published by the CFED the majority of people in the USA are living paycheck to paycheck. An alarming statistic… 44% of all households do not have enough savings to cover basic living expenses for even three months. They are one crisis away from utter financial ruin.

True to economy did a huge belly flop and many people are still smarting from the sting. It is safe to say that the economic changes have impacted 99% of the population and not in a good way. So is living paycheck to paycheck strictly a result of the economic climate…or is there more to it?

Have you found yourself thinking a raise would change your financial circumstances and give you a little ease between checks…only to discover, months after a raise that you have adjusted to the increased income and are living, yes, you got it…paycheck to paycheck?

The myth that “if or when I earn more money, I will be able to stop living paycheck to paycheck” has been proven to be false with the many lottery winners who lose it all and wind up living check to check again. So there is proof that a limiting belief system can also create a paycheck to paycheck lifestyle, regardless of the economy.

I became aware of my own limiting beliefs in my early thirties when I felt like I was chasing a unicorn thinking each rise in income was going to give me the financial peace of mine and security. I felt the sting of disappointment and frustration because my income was rising but I had no financial stability because I was living paycheck to paycheck with no ability to save. So I attended a financial seminar and learned about limiting beliefs and the damage they caused.

Here are a few I had…maybe they resonate with you? Having access to more money without changing how you think about money will only keep you in a self-defeating cycle.

The BIG Myth: If you could earn more money, you’ll stop living paycheck to paycheck.

Truth: Paycheck to paycheck living is a mentality –it is about how you think about money rather than how much you earn.

Here are 5 beliefs keeping you in the paycheck to paycheck mode:

Belief #2: I am greedy to want more money in my life. “The root of all evil is the love of money.” Sound familiar? I am not sure where this motto originated but I think most of us heard it in our formative years. But wanting money isn’t the same as loving it. When you will do anything for money, even if it means taking advantage of or hurting someone else. I deal with this one still. There should be no judgment, shame, or guilt in earning an income to support the quality of life you want to live – as long as you can afford it. I have a problem with gold fixtures, boats larger than homes, and other clear extravagances. They don’t apply to me because I can’t afford them…getting it? Maybe my belief system is getting in my way. Of course, I would spend the money on other things, such as humanitarian projects. My dream?! Hang on, maybe I don’t have the money for all the humanitarian projects I want to create is because of this belief?

Belief #2: Wealth is measured by material things. He with the most toys, wins. The accumulation of things doesn’t equal wealth if you are not financially whole. There is a well-known analogy of how the rich and the poor spend their money. The rich spend it on investments while the poor spend it on expenses. I don’t know if there is any concrete proof to this but assets are usually more expensive and so the poor wouldn’t have the resources to do so. However, it is good to explore. How do you deploy disposable income? A nice splurge like a trip or new outfit? Or do you increase your savings portfolio. I’m not going to say…but I have been on both sides of that one! The result is an unbalance in wealth if you lean to heavily on the fun side of that equation– you have a lot of things but have created very little net worth for your self. Here’s a tip…If you are stressed out trying to maintain or keep all of your possessions you are out of balance.
