Article writing and strategic posting throughout the internet is a great way to invest personal time and effort today and benefit from it for years in the future. Consistency in posting well written articles which are targeted to niche markets and linked to a central location is a well-tested program of establishing traffic without expensive ads and PPC investments. As more articles are posted, your base grows larger and traffic grows with it. Each posted article will have author’s credit and a back link to the hub website or blog. When a page has many links back to it it helps to attain good positioning in the search engines.
There are many article directories and ezines which focus on niches or provide many categories which are already indexed with search engines. Having articles in various article directories is a great way of providing links back to your site, thus building your site’s popularity. An article directory which has a high page rank is the best place to submit articles to as this helps to boost your page’s rank. If your article is appropriate, other websites or blogs may publish your article, as well, adding publicity and more back links. Over time, articles posted in article directories can build you a reputation as an expert in your niche and add credibility to your overall internet marketing efforts.
Generating popularity with the search engines through article writing is best done slowly over time. If you write and submit a large number of articles in one day to a few directories, it may cause a negative impact to your website. For example, Google is quite sensitive about a sudden surge in traffic to a link. Although we would all love a sudden surge in traffic, it may cause Google to de-index your site in order to look in to the reason for the sudden popularity of your site. It’s better to submit articles consistently every couple of days and build your back links over time.
In the process of article marketing, don’t submit an article that is already on your own website. It may be considered duplicate content and you don’t want that! Google would consider the site which is higher ranking to be the originator of the article (the article directory) and your site’s page rank may suffer. If you purchase PLR articles, do not use them without making changes. Re-write them. Duplicate articles can also be rejected by the article directories.
Research and use effective keywords in the title, opening and closing paragraphs and keep the keyword density 6 – 10% without stuffing them. If the directory allows, add appropriate hyperlinks back to your blog or website and use anchor text that relates article, keywords, and linked content to attain a better position in the search engine results.
Most of all, remember people will be reading your article. Make it readable for them as well as informative to the search engines. If your reader doesn’t enjoy reading the article, they won’t reach the end of it, which is where you will lead them to your site from the resource box.
In summary, article marketing is one of the best strategies for long term popularity. Every internet marketer needs to develop skill in article marketing and develop a base of good quality, value-added articles over time. It will bring in terrific long term results.
Hi, I'm Teresa Farrell, an online marketing coach and network marketing leader who has been involved in entrepreneurial pursuits since 1997. Prior to that I provided management consulting services to Fortune 200 companies in the telco, tech, bio-tech and mass retail sectors. I loved the work because it was solutions oriented and required constant learning and skills upgrade. You couldn't sit still for a moment.
After 20 years, the constant travel became too much and I longed for a simpler life. I found it in the Pacific Northwest. Its a great place to live but most of the paying jobs are a 1 -2 hour commute away so part of the plan was to create my own income.
I evaluated several business models and ruled out anything with a storefront or employees immediately. I wanted to freedom of cash flow and did not want to have more obligations than absolutely necessary.
Next, I evaluated franchises, B-to-B services, product distributorships or brokerages. I ruled out most of them because again they required large capital investments in merchandise and facility and I wanted to limit my exposure as a start up. I had seen the percentages of inventory write-offs and did not want to create a volume business to offset the write-offs.
I found a couple of consulting franchises that made sense. 1. I was a seasoned consultant and felt comfortable in that arena, 2. I felt if they had the products or services of value, I could promote, sell and implement them, and 3. I really liked the idea of being part of a larger brand and support community.
So after several years of free-lancing, I purchased a franchise as a web service consultancy for small and medium sized companies. Big mistake. I wound up paying royalties to someone for a job and getting very little in return. Anyway, I learned a great deal from the 2 years I stayed with that business and I gained confidence and clarity about what I really wanted to do with my life, now that it was totally my decision.
I loved the internet. I loved problem solving. I loved consulting and coaching others. As I grew in my on-line abilities, I was introduced to network marketing and developed a supporting income from both activities. Over the past several years I have been amazed and excited to see my two vocations of choice merge and actually emerge as a powerful new economic model. You can become wealthy with little at risk compared to the past models of entrepreneurship.
More importantly, ordinary people can create a debt free financial stability for themselves and others in this industry by learning the new skills and applying them thoughtfully with integrity. The outcomes are directly correlated with the level of effort. I love that!
It is never too late to get started and now is the best time to start because it is very new - the integration of internet marketing, attraction marketing and network marketing. With the right focus and mentoring, a person can completely change their financial picture in a short period of time.
In addition to my marketing work, I provide fund raising assistance to several non profit organizations and consulting services to small businesses. I relocated from New York City to the rural Olympic Peninsula and enjoy connecting with family, friends and business associates around the world clicking from my keyboard.
